What this site collects. In plain words.
We measure visits so we can make the site better. We don't sell what we learn, and we don't use it to advertise to you.

What we measure
How the site is used.
We use HubSpot, a US software company, to see how this site is used. When you open a page, HubSpot records:
- the page, the time, and the site that sent you here
- your browser, device, screen size and language, and a code HubSpot works out from your browser's settings and hardware to tell browsers apart, even without cookies
- your IP address, which HubSpot uses to estimate your location and may use to recognize the organization whose network you're on
- a random ID in a cookie, so a return visit counts as the same browser
- the links and buttons you press: their wording, where they lead, and where on the screen you pressed
We use this to understand what works and to improve the site. We don't tie visits to names, and there are no forms and no advertising pixels here. HubSpot's visit cookies sit on this site's own address, www.unconventional.pro, and other websites can't read them. Even so, HubSpot, as a third party, may collect information about your visits over time, here and on other sites that use it. One short-lived cookie, __cf_bm, sits on HubSpot's own addresses and is there to screen out bots. HubSpot uses what it sees here to produce our reports, under its data processing agreement with us.
Your choice
Say no, and it stops.
Wherever you are, you can switch measurement off for this browser. HubSpot is then not loaded on this site at all, and the cookies it set here are cleared.
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we take that as a no, and HubSpot is not loaded.
If your device is set to a time zone in Europe, or in one of the EU's regions elsewhere, HubSpot is not loaded either. In the EU, the EEA and the UK the law generally asks for your consent before cookies like HubSpot's are used. Rather than ask, we don't measure visits from those time zones at all.
If your browser blocks cookies for this site, we take that as a no too, and HubSpot is not loaded.
When you write
Your email stays a conversation.
If you email hello@unconventional.pro, we receive your address and whatever you choose to tell us. We use it to reply and to handle what you ask about. Our email runs on Google Workspace. We keep messages for as long as the conversation, and any work that comes from it, needs them.
Who else
A few companies help run this site.
- HubSpot measures visits for us, under a data processing agreement that limits what it can do with the data. HubSpot's data sharing for its own products is switched off for our account. HubSpot's privacy policy covers the rest.
- GitHub hosts the site and logs visitors' IP addresses for security.
- Google serves our typefaces and receives your IP address to do it. Google says it sets no cookies for this and builds no profiles from it. Google also hosts our email.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Where and how long
Where it's kept, and for how long.
HubSpot holds visit data for us in North America. It is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, its UK Extension and the Swiss-U.S. framework. Visit reports stay in our HubSpot account while we use it, and HubSpot deletes them under its terms if the account closes. GitHub and Google keep their logs under their own policies.
The cookies:
__hstcandhubspotutk: the random ID and your visit times, six months__hssc: the current visit, 30 minutes__hssrc: notices a browser restart, until you close the browser__hs_do_not_track: set only when you switch measurement off, six months__cf_bm: set by HubSpot's delivery network to screen out bots, 30 minutes__measure_check(ours) andcookietest(HubSpot's): check that your browser keeps cookies, deleted the moment they're read
Your rights
Ask, and we'll answer.
You can ask what we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it or send you a copy. Email hello@unconventional.pro with "Privacy" in the subject. Someone you authorize can ask for you. We may need to check it's you. Visits aren't tied to names, and HubSpot doesn't let us pick one anonymous visitor's history out and delete it. Switching measurement off deletes the random ID from your browser, so what was recorded can no longer be linked to you. Emails you've sent us we can find, correct, copy or delete. We answer as soon as we can, within the time the law allows. If you disagree with our answer, reply and we'll look again. Asking never changes how we treat you.
In the EU, the EEA and the UK: if a visit of yours is measured anyway, for example because your device is set to another time zone, switch it off above, which deletes the ID that links those visits to your browser, and ask us about anything else we hold. We answer email because we have a legitimate interest in replying to you. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
California
In California's terms.
- Collected: identifiers (IP address, a cookie ID, a browser fingerprint code, and your email address if you write); internet activity (pages viewed, links and buttons pressed, the site that sent you, browser and device details); approximate location from your IP address; and anything you put in an email, which may include professional details.
- Why: to measure and improve the site, and to reply to you.
- Disclosed to: HubSpot, GitHub and Google, as described above.
- Sold or shared: none.
- Kept: cookies up to six months; visit data while we use HubSpot; email as long as the conversation needs it.
Small print
Everything else.
If you press Pause motion on the home page, your browser remembers that choice on your own device. It never leaves it.
